Regional Export Growth
Exports to 10 ECOWAS countries rose sharply, reaching $63.06 million, a 223.1% rise from $19.517 million in Q1 2024.
Exports to other African countries contributed an additional $32.73 million. This shows that Nigeria is increasingly taking advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to export to the broader African markets.
Non-Oil Export Declarations and Banking Participation Q1
- During the first quarter, over 485 non-oil export declarations (NXPs) were processed by 28 banks.
- Key banks led the transactions, including Zenith Bank Plc (30.7%), First Bank of Nigeria Plc (14.22%), and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (8.89%).
Export Channels and Destinations
Lagos ports served as major gateways for 95% of Nigeria’s non-oil exports in Q1 2025.
In total, six seaports, three international airports and seven land borders served as exit points for Nigeria’s non-oil exports.
Nigerian goods went to Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania, with the Netherlands, Belgium, and Brazil as the top destinations.
