Crude Oil Prices April 17, 2025: Brent & WTI Rates

Crude oil prices rose more than 3% on April 17, supported by hopes for a US-EU trade deal and new US sanctions to curb Iranian oil exports, which elevated supply concerns.

Brent crude oil price, on April 17, closed at roughly $67.96 per barrel compared with $65.85 recorded on April 16. At the same time, WTI crude oil price closed at approximately $64.01 per barrel compared with $61.83 recorded on April 16.

According to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the basket price of thirteen crude oil blends stood at $69.50 a barrel on April 17, compared with $68.06 a barrel on April 16.

The OPEC Reference Basket of Crudes (ORB) consists of the following: Saharan Blend (Algeria), Djeno (Congo), Zafiro (Equatorial Guinea), Rabi Light (Gabon), Iran Heavy (Iran), Basrah Medium (Iraq), Kuwait Export (Kuwait), Es Sider (Libya), Bonny Light (Nigeria), Arab Light (Saudi Arabia), Murban (UAE) and Merey (Venezuela).

Specific crude oil prices for Nigeria’s Bonny Light, Brass River, and Qua Iboe for April 17 include:
