Bashir Bayo Ojulari, the Group CEO of NNPC Ltd, pledged to establish strategic collaboration with key stakeholders. The goal is to deliver on the critical mandates of the oil and gas sector emphasized by President Tinubu.
Ojulari made the declaration on April 19 during a visit with Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources. He also stated that his team would work with the Petroleum and Finance ministries to fulfil the President’s directives regarding the sector.
Ojula stated, “We are here with a partnership mindset. NNPC aims to bridge gaps, foster alignment, and move forward with a united front. Antagonism benefits no one; collaboration is how we win.”
Lokpobiri, in response, expressed confidence in Ojulari and his leadership team. He referred to them as the most capable executives in the history of NNPC Ltd..
Lokpobiri stated, “This is arguably the strongest leadership team NNPC Ltd has ever assembled. Now is the time to translate that reputation into measurable results, especially in increasing crude oil production and ensuring the sector delivers optimal value to the Nigerian people.”
In addition, Lokpobiri assured Ojulari of his support. He pledged to collaborate closely to help NNPC Ltd thrive and meet its national responsibilities.
The Minister noted, “The success of NNPC Ltd is the success of Nigeria. And that is why I’m committed to working closely with Mr Ojulari and his team to ensure that we deliver on the expectations of President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian people.”
Ojulari’s Strategic Roadmap for the Oil and Gas Sector
Bashir Ojulari, the new NNPC GCEO, presented a roadmap on April 19 to revitalize Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
Regarding crude oil production, Ojulari presented an ambitious plan to boost output to over 2 million barrels per day by 2027 and 3 million bpd by 2030. Also, Ojulari stated that NNPC Ltd aims to attract $30 billion in investments by 2027 and $60 billion by 2030.
To reduce its reliance on imported petroleum products, NNPC plans to expand its domestic refining capacity to 200,000 bpd by 2027 and to 500,000 bpd by 2030.
On the gas front, Ojulari revealed that NNPC would boost gas production to 10 billion cubic feet (bcf) per day by 2027 and 12 bcf per day by 2030.
In terms of pipelines, Ojulari would advance gas infrastructure projects. These include the OB-3 and AKK gas pipelines to boost domestic gas usage.
He is also expected to advocate for regional gas pipeline projects, such as the West Africa Gas Pipeline and the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline, to enhance Nigeria’s gas export capacity.
